HIGH BANK CO. ANNOUNCES OFFICIAL OPENING DATE OF THEIR THIRD LOCATION
COLUMBUS, OH — High Bank Co, announces their third restaurant location in Westerville will open on Tuesday, August 20th.
This location is located at 28 South State Street, featuring a 3600+/- square foot full-service restaurant and bar including two patios, a retail store and exterior DORA window (Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area).
Why Westerville? Prohibition is said to have started in Westerville, Ohio, just 12 miles from High Bank’s distillery location in Grandview. In 1875, a man named Henry Corbin took a chance and opened a saloon in an area known to strongly oppose the consumption of distilled spirits. Not once, but twice, the saloon was blown up. It was said before the first explosion, he came outside to address the protesters with two pistols drawn. That single act is believed to have ignited the “Whiskey War” of prohibition and launched the Anti-Saloon League.
Adam Hines, co-founder and Master Distiller, speaks to the company’s expansion.
This has been a long time coming….since 2019, I knew I wanted to open a High Bank in my home town of Westerville, Ohio. We’ve just been waiting for the perfect location in Uptown and we finally found it. Being just down the street from the original Henry Corbin saloon that inspired the entire story of our award-winning Whiskey War brand is epic.”
— co-founder and Master Distiller Adam Hines
The 2.7M project was co-developed by Steve Wathen of Equity and John A. Brooks of BTTS Holdings and represents a significant private investment in Uptown Westerville. The complex building conversion was also led by another local company, WSA Studio.
The exterior design keeps the historic building in-tact with crown-molding and original brickwork, paired with the interior mixing classic and modern furnishings.
John Brooks speaks to the excitement around this project.
A project like this takes the collaboration and effort of many partners for a sustained period of time. A special thank you to all involved who made it happen.
As a Westerville resident, with our company hq’s in Uptown, I am particularly excited and grateful our family could preserve and restore this historic building, giving it new life for generations to come.
Award winning whiskey (and great food I might add!) comes to an award winning community!
— Managing Partner of BTTS John Brooks
The city of Westerville also expresses their excitement about this opening.
We are thrilled to celebrate High Bank Distillery in Westerville. The transformation of the building, formerly owned by the City, exceeds our expectations for the newest amenity in Uptown. So many people originally from Westerville brought this project to life, and the outcome is going to be enjoyed by residents and visitors for generations to come.
— Monica Dupee, Westerville City Manager
